Hey guys, I am back. I know that you all have been waiting to hear from me since my last video posting. And I have been trying to find the time to let you all know how my journey has been going, in spite of big life changing events. So, my 5k run/walk race is 10 days away (how time flies), and I have managed to make time to train for it. Not as often as I would have liked, but I have been getting in some training for the run. So, I know you all are wondering what type of exercises have I been doing to get ready for my run; since that was the topic of my video post. And I think you all will be a little surprised that my workouts don’t just consist of running. Don’t get me wrong running is a big part of my training, but it is not the only thing that I do to get prepared for my run.

Some of you may be wondering why do other exercises, and my answer to that is to decease injury and help build endurance. So, my workout consist of resistance training, cardio training, and core training. Every aspect is important to help me prepare my body for the run. The resistance training is done to build muscle, which will help decrease injury. I do a lot of bodyweight type exercises for resistance exercise ( my bodyweight is use as the resistance), and the reason for this is because my gym does not have any free weights and I don’t want to carry them to the gym and back home. The cardiovascular training is done to help increase my endurance so I can run longer and farther. I am not really trying to run faster, yet, I just want to be able to run longer and farther. The last aspect of my training is core training and this training is done to decrease injury also. The reason that anyone trainings for something is to prevent injury and to get stronger and better. I will continue to run in 5ks to get stronger and better because it is a part of my training for life.

I like the fact that this is a run/walk race because I can walk for a while and run for a while; but my ultimate goal is to run the whole time without stopping. I know some people will say that I am weak because I can’t run the entire race straight, and I would say that is your opinion. God says that the race is not given to the swift but to the one that endures. Through working out I have learned so may life lessons and being able to run my race is one of them. So many time throughout my life I look at what other people are doing and I would try to keep up with that person. And I have learned that when I do that I find myself falling into depression and regret. God made me in His own image and I am perfect the way I am, so if it takes me a little longer to do something than that is okay. I have to stop comparing myself to others and run my race the way that God tells me to run it. AND you know what, that takes courage. It is sooooooooo, sooooooooo, sooooooooo easy to try to be what you think people want you to be or what they say you should be; but it takes courage and faith to be what God called you to be (THE REAL YOU)….. When we stop looking around and comparing ourselves to others, and start looking to God’s word to become to the REAL US our whole world will change and we will have what we want, need, and desire.

My weight lost journey has been teaching my so much about life overall, and every challenge that I face during this journey teaches me something that I can use in other aspects of my life. Don’t get me wrong, trying to lose weight is not easy, and at times can be very frustrating and draining, but the end result is worth it. In other aspects of my life there are things that drain me, and frustrate me, but I am learning how to remain positive and push through because the end result is worth it.
